Aftercare Advice
Spray Tan Aftercare
To achieve an even, long-lasting tan, please follow these aftercare instructions carefully.
Immediately After Your Tan
Wear loose, dark clothing after your appointment.
Avoid tight clothing, bras, socks and tight shoes that may rub against the developing tan.
Keep your skin completely dry during the recommended development time.
Avoid touching, rubbing or scratching your skin.
Avoid exercise and activities that cause excessive sweating.
Avoid swimming, showers, baths, rain and other water exposure.
Avoid applying moisturiser, perfume, deodorant or other products to the freshly tanned skin until advised.
Your First Shower
Follow the development time recommended by your tanning technician, as this can vary depending on the tanning solution used.
When showering:
Use lukewarm water rather than very hot water.
Gently rinse your body using your hands.
Do not scrub or exfoliate.
Avoid using a loofah, exfoliating mitt or body scrub.
Do not be concerned when some colour washes off during your first rinse — this is the cosmetic bronzer leaving the skin while the tan continues to develop, it's very important is all comes off.
Gently pat your skin dry with a towel rather than rubbing.
Maintaining Your Tan
To keep your tan looking even and prolong the colour:
Moisturise your skin daily with a gentle moisturiser.
Drink plenty of water to help maintain well-hydrated skin.
Avoid excessive exfoliation.
Avoid long, hot showers and baths.
Minimise swimming, particularly in chlorinated pools.
Be gentle when drying yourself after showering.
Avoid products that are strongly exfoliating or designed to accelerate skin shedding.
Exercise & Swimming
Try to avoid heavy exercise and excessive sweating while your tan is developing.
Swimming, spas, hot tubs and frequent exposure to chlorinated or salt water can cause the tan to fade more quickly.
Shaving & Hair Removal
Shaving and other hair-removal methods can gradually remove the tan from the skin. If possible, complete shaving before your next spray tan rather than immediately after your appointment.
Important
Some tans take up to 24 hours to completely develop.
Your spray tan does not provide protection from the sun or UV radiation.
You must continue to use appropriate sunscreen and other sun-protection measures when outdoors.
Need Help?
If you experience unexpected irritation, redness, swelling or another unusual reaction after your spray tan, stop using the product and seek appropriate medical advice.
